Short Swordscabbard World Columbian Expostion1893This is a late 19th century american sword, marked with w. C. E on the obverse, world's columbian exposition of 1893 held in chicago. There is also the numbers '770' on the revrese ricasso. On the opposite side of the ricasso are the letters w. C. G. I have no knowledge of what these stand for.It has a fine 20 double edged blade and still a bright polish, minimal surface staining. The black finished wooden grip handle is tighly affixed to the blade- there are a few surface scfufs and nicks on it, normal for its age. Mounts appear to be brass. The scabbard is center stitched in the back and fits well. There is some surface scuffing (to be expected for something of this age) on the black leather scabbard but it is still very stong and supple. Overall a very fine sword, a delight for a serious collector, and offered with no reserve!
As this is the liquidation of a very lagre estate, all sales are final, so please ask questions before bidding. Check my feedback too, sa i've been doing this estate for several months now-this collector had some amazing, very interesting pieces. We are well experienced in packing/shipping worldwide, which is not expensive from montreal, canada. Powered yb ebay turbo lister. |
